Contest Rules and Regulations
Course category: Flamenco Documentary
Dates: 2nd March to 4th May, 2009
In this documentary category, pieces of any duration produced to promote and impart flamenco may be presented, such as complementary mediums to recorded material works or flamenco art editing.
CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS
- Record companies, producers, management agencies, individual or group film makers or any company or association may participate.
- Participation is open to all creators within the world of flamenco
- Both unpublished works or works that have been published between 2005 and 2009 will be accepted.
- Live recordings that are not of the minimum artistic value will be excluded.
- Prizes will only be awarded to the director of the documentary, of which must be clearly stated on the application form.
- The director of the work presented declares originality and own authorship. Moreover, contestants assume all responsibility in the case of any legal claim or any type of lawsuit that may occur in the festival by any physical person or jury that may consider to hold the right over the work, seeing that, prior to the festival the authors declare themselves as legitimate titleholders and that the work is original.
- All copies must be sent in a sealed envelope, with the title of the documentary written on it, and of which will form part of the festivals’ artistic patrimony.
- The works must be presented in DVD (PAL 720×576). In addition, the following must be included
- Registration form
- Artistic credits
- Technical credits
- Synopsis
- All works will be received at Fundació Privada Taller de Músics’ offices.

- Closing date for presentation of works: 4th May, 2009.
- The festival organization does not take any responsibility for any loss or damage to material caused during consignment or shipment.
- The jury is made up of experts from the flamenco field.
- A cinema director or scriptwriter
- a producer representative or post production company representative
- a music critic
- two visual artists
- the festival direction
- The jury’s verdict will be announced on 24 May, 2009, prize nomination day, and is unappealable. (Place and time to be confirmed).
- The festival’s awarding of prizes authorizes members of the organization to broadcast – for publicity purpose in the media and the manners that stipulate – personal data, image , voice and content of the works of the awarded authors, without explicit authorization of the authors mentioned and without the right to any type of compensation until 6 months have passed from the end date of the festival.
- The authors of the works competing agree to give total or partial rights of broadcasting of their works within the communication media to the Festival Audiovisual Flamenco de Ciutat Vella.
- Festival Audiovisual Flamenco de Ciutat Vella has the right to use the awarded works within the communication media to promote the flamenco documentary and the festival itself within the communication media, fairs or other audiovisual festivals. Festival Audiovisual Flamenco de Ciutat Vella is not responsible for the inappropriate use of material broadcasted by third parties.
- The contestants give explicit rights of image that may correspond to his/her participation in the presented works to Festival Audiovisual Flamenco de Ciutat Vella. In this way, Festival Audiovisual Flamenco de Ciutat Vella can use the documentary entries to promote the festival but does not take any responsibility for the rights of image that derive from the individuals who participate in such works.
- In agreement with the conditions established in article 2.2.1 of the Real Decreto 1775/2004 of 30 July, whereby the regulations of income tax are passed, the Fundació Privada Taller de Músics witholds a period of six months, from the date of prize nomination, during which it can edit and broadcast the winning works without lucrative purpose. Hence after, the works are returned permanently to their authors. Whether the publication and the broadcasting are the responsibility of the Fundació Privada Taller de Músics or the responsibility of the author, it is compulsory to state that the work has been awarded by the Fundació Privada Taller de Músics.
- All entries can be declared void based on the criteria of the jury and the quality of the works presented.
- Participation in the contest implies understanding and full acceptance of the rules and regulations and conditions.
- The festival organisation will unilaterally resolve any unforeseen circumstances in the regulations.
- Any work that violates human rights will not be accepted by the jury of the organisation.
PRIZES
A. Two prizes will be awarded
- 1st prize: 1000 euros.
- 2nd prize 500 euros.
B. The awarded works will be broadcasted on Xarxa de Televisions Locals de Catalunya’s special programmes and on regional television channels.
The following criteria will be taken into consideration on awarding of prizes:
- Direction and production.
- Editing and technical quality.
- Creative development and artistic value.
